2013-05-14

Mr. Omer Tetik is Banca Transilvania’s new CEO, appointed by BT’s Board of Directors to coordinate the bank’s activity. Previously, Mr. Tetik held the position of President of Credit Europe Bank Romania and Chairman of the bank’s Board of Directors. His new mandate will start on June 1, 2013, pending NBR approval.

Horia Ciorcila, Chairman of Banca Transilvania’s Board of Directors, stated: “We welcome Omer Tetik to our team, his personality being a perfect fit to our bank’s vision. He has the right combination of personal talent and professional experience to be the CEO of Banca Transilvania. Both the Board and I fully support and entrust Omer Tetik with the fulfillment of Banca Transilvania’s strategy.”

The newly appointed CEO will report directly to the Chairman of BT’s Board, Mr. Horia Ciorcila.

Mr. Omer Tetik, 40, is a Romanian citizen of Turkish origin, born in Germany. Although he is one of the youngest bank CEO’s in Romania, he has a vast experience in banking, extending over 17 years. He has occupied several positions in the banking sector in Romania, as well as in Turkey and Russia. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics - Middle East Technical University of Ankara and speaks fluently 4 languages, including Romanian.

“I am honored to become part of Banca Transilvania’s top management, especially as this opportunity was offered to me by one of the largest banks in Romania. I’ve always admired the success story of this bank, its entrepreneurial spirit and innovative approach. This challenge makes me feel both enthusiastic and responsible, strongly committed to bringing my contribution to the bank’s growth and position consolidation”, stated Omer Tetik.

Mr. Tetik started his career in 1996, at Finansbank in Istanbul, as Treasury Dealer. He was promoted as Treasury Executive Manager at Finansbank Moscow and later as President of Finans Securities Bucharest. While working at Credit Europe Bank Romania he was Executive Manager and then Vice President within the Treasury Division, Vice President of the Retail Banking Division, Prime Vice President and, starting in 2010, CEO of the bank.

Omer Tetik will relocate from Bucharest to Cluj-Napoca, where Banca Transilvania has its main Headquarters. He has been living in Romania for over 13 years and, in his own words, over time it became: “My home, the country where I built my family, where I’ve made friends and which has offered me professional opportunities, such as the CEO position with Banca Transilvania.”
