Banca Transilvania climbs in the Brand Finance Banking 500 2021 ranking on the 302nd place - from the 339th place, occupied in 2019 - with a 19% increase of the brand value, up to 441 million USD. The analysis was performed by Brand Finance, the global independent brand assessment company.
The value of a brand is the net economic benefit that an owner would obtain by licensing the brand. Along with the financial results, the strength of brands is a determining factor of the brand value.

- Brand Finance also determines the relative strength of the brands, through a series of indicators (balaced scorecard): the marketing investment, the brand equity (reputation gained with it’s customers, consumers, employees and other stakeholders), and their impact on the market’s performance.
- Considering the declining profits and the government efforts to manage the pandemic crisis, nearly two-thirds of the world's top 500 global banking brands have registered a decline in their brand value, according to the Brand Finance report. The total value of the ranking registers the second consecutive annual contraction, from USD 1.330 billion in 2020 to USD 1.270 billion in 2021. The top is dominated by Chinese and US banks, which together generate over 50% of the total value of the Banking 500 ranking.
- Each year, Brand Finance evaluates over 5,000 of the most valuable global brands and publishes over 100 industry and national reports. The most valuable 500 banking brands are included in the annual Brand Finance Banking report.
The Banca Transilvania brand entered this ranking in 2018, on position 486, with a value of 174 million USD. In 2019, it climbed almost 50 positions in the top, and in 2020, 100 positions compared to 2019.
