Tiberiu Moisă, BT: Transilvania Bank's commitment to agriculture is long-term
Tiberiu Moisă, Deputy General Director MidCorporate and SMEs at Transilvania Bank, attended the conference “Agriculture in 2026: challenge, adaptation, opportunities”, organized by Financial Newspaper in Constanța, with the support of Transilvania Bank. During the event, attended by over 90 farmers, the discussions focused on the outlook for the 2026 agricultural year and on solutions through which farmers can face economic and environmental challenges. On this occasion, Tiberiu Moisă made the following statements:
- Regarding agriculture, Transilvania Bank's commitment is long-term. We have a large financing portfolio, we see that there are problems and people who need support.
- One of the fundamental strengths of the Romanian economy is this resilience, which means that our economy has depth, has a maturity that goes beyond a short-term or more extensive shock.
- We see that, in general, well-prepared companies cope better with situations, they have behind them years of activity during which they have made more mature and balanced decisions than others. That means being a well-prepared company: you pay attention to how much you go into debt, when you make investments and when you don’t.
- It is an opportunity for those financially stable, for those who have the potential to grow.
- A priority for all of us is to ensure that the level of trust between financiers and farmers remains very good. Here, everyone must act where the financing takes place; it is mutually applicable, and banks need to understand as well as possible what is happening. We know that we have gone through such periods with other industries as well, that dialogue, transparency, and solutions implemented at the right time matter the most.
- Funding volumes from 10-15 years ago were incomparably smaller than those of today. Looking at how I have seen Romanian agriculture re-technologized over the last two decades, I am satisfied.
- From my point of view, financing has accompanied the development of agriculture. Financing is always a prudent arm that supports you.
- From our point of view, in an agricultural sense, we see a good year in 2026. The balance between production and financial sustainability is very important, and I believe it is worth adjusting our behaviors and decisions according to each year in particular, especially since, more recently, the new rule in agriculture is that each year brings something different.
