  • Throughout 2022, the profit tax paid by BT to the state amounts to over 1% of the total profit tax collected by the state from companies in Romania.
  • Total taxes and duties paid by Banca Transilvania in the year 2022 exceed 1.1 billion lei.

It was a very complicated year, marked by the war in Ukraine and multiple uncertainties on the economic front, generated by inflation and the energy crisis. Despite this difficult context, Romania's economy has navigated this period well. As far as we are concerned, we continued to be the largest financier in Romania and the biggest partner of the government programs launched in 2022. We also continued to invest in technology, digitization, and infrastructure and consolidated the position of the bank and the BT Group in the local market. The financial results confirm our expectations and are the basis for ambitious plans for the future. We are attentive and concerned about geopolitical and macroeconomic events, but at the same time open to potential opportunities , states Horia Ciorcilă, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Transilvania Bank.

AssetsThe Financial Group BT reached at the end of last year 140.5 billion lei. Credits have increased to 68 billion lei, and the warehouses have reached 119.7 billion lei, of which 79.9 billion lei belong to individual clients, and 39.85 billion lei to legal entities. Net profit consolidated of the BT Financial Group is 2,488.4 million lei, of which that of the bank is 2,178 million lei. Operating profit the bank's has increased to 2,698.7 million lei. Operational efficiency the bank, reflected by the cost/income ratio, was maintained at the comfortable level of 49.7% due to good cost management and efficiency through process digitalization.

The bank's management will propose to the Board of Directors an allocation of the profit related to 2022 for the capitalization of the bank in the amount of over 900 million lei, the rest being allocated to the establishment of reserves from the retained earnings. The proposal is in line with the prudential recommendations of the National Macroprudential Oversight Committee and the National Bank of Romania, considering the volatile international context and internal challenges. Thus, the profit related to the year 2022 is used to support lending and the development of the Romanian economy in the coming period.

BT consistently financed the population and companies

  • Over 12,000 Romanians have purchased a home with the help of BT, the amount granted being over 3.6 billion lei. The balance of mortgage/real estate loans is 17 billion lei.
  • Over 100,000 consumer loans, of approximately 3.8 billion lei, were granted last year. The balance of these loans reached 9.6 billion lei.
  • The bank granted over 16,000 new loans, amounting to 4.5 billion lei, for approximately 16,300 SME & Micro clients.
  • The SME loan portfolio reached 22.5 billion lei.
  • The number of new loans granted by the bank increased by almost 10% in 2022 compared to 2021, the largest increase being recorded in the Large Corporate segment, where the number of financings increased by 48%.
  • The credit balance increased by over 21%, of which a significant increase, of over 30%, is the balance of loans for companies. More than half of the increases were generated by working capital loans. Regarding financing for the population, the loan volume is +8%.
