Banca Transilvania becomes the main partner of the Romanian Basketball Federation
Banca Transilvania becomes the main partner of the Romanian Basketball Federation and will support its activity and competition plans. The partnership was made public today, in Bucharest, during a press conference, by Ömer Tetik – General Director of Banca Transilvania and Horia Paun – President of the Romanian Basketball Federation.
Through this partnership, BT will be a sponsor of EuroBasket 2017; main sponsor of the Men's National Basketball Team in the 2016-2017 competitive season; will support the main tournaments and activities of the men's and women's national basketball teams U20, U18, U16, respectively will be the main sponsor of the Women's Senior National Basketball Team in the 2016-2017 competitive season.
The Romanian Basketball Federation has 275 affiliated clubs and over 21,000 licensed athletes in domestic competitions.

Banca Transilvania, friend of Romanian basketball
The bank is also the main financier of the U-BT Cluj-Napoca Sports Club, and since December 2015 has become the official sponsor of the Women's National Basketball Team in the Eurobasket 2017 Qualifying Campaign. Also, BT contributes to the growth of future generations of basketball players, so it has been a partner for several years of the "Ghita Muresan Summer Camp" program, and this year it will support the National Baby and Mini Basketball Championship, intended for children between 7 and 12 years old. Banca Transilvania and the Romanian Basketball Federation together set a European attendance record in the Eurobasket Women 2017 preliminaries: nearly 7,000 spectators at the Romania-Turkey game, which took place in Cluj-Napoca.
Basketball in Romania
- Romania is among the 8 countries that in 1932 founded the International Amateur Basketball Federation (FIBA), together with Argentina, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Greece, Italy, Latvia and Portugal. Practically, Romania also laid the foundations of modern basketball;
- Ghita Muresan was the first Romanian who played in the NBA. He started his basketball player career in Cluj-Napoca, at CS Universitatea Mobitelco, the current team U-Banca Transilvania, sponsored by Banca Transilvania;
- European Basketball Championship (Eurobasket 2017) will be hosted for the first time in Romania; our country has participated 17 times in this competition.
