Banca Transilvania and Bancpost have become a single bank
Message from BT top management
„We are happy to announce that Banca Transilvania and Bancpost have become a single bank, after the successful merger completed on December 31, 2018, and the undertaking of an ambitious plan to integrate Bancpost into BT's activity, over the course of only nine months.
It is a step forward in the story of our bank, in which the acquisitions of Bancpost, Victoriabank, and Volksbank Romania have a special place. 2009 is another milestone in the history of Transilvania Bank because the business model was adapted to the economic context of that time. The first reinvention of BT took place in 2001, along with the beginning of nationwide expansion of the branch network.
We have the courage, experience and resources necessary for new reinventions of our bank, if economic challenges require it or, on the other hand, if opportunities arise on the market.
Welcome to BT!
We say welcome to Banca Transilvania to the clients and employees of Bancpost. We trust that the accommodation will be quick, especially since both banks have Romanian DNA and history with many aspects in common. Also, we want to carry forward the strengths found at Bancpost, appreciated by clients and the team.
Responsibility of Transilvania Bank towards clients, shareholders and the economy
We know that, being the largest financier of the national economy, of SMEs and of the personal plans of individuals, BT from now on has an ever greater responsibility towards the 3 million bank clients, 10,000 employees of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group, nearly 30,000 shareholders and towards the Romanian economy. Also, we will continue our involvement in the growth of Victoriabank from the Republic of Moldova and in consolidating the banking system in the neighboring country.
In the 25 years since the BT story began, Banca Transilvania has reinvested in Romania, in the growth of its business, almost all the profit obtained, thus managing to support the economy, companies, entrepreneurs and the dreams of Romanians. In the last 10 years alone, BT has lent to almost 75,000 companies, which in turn support 1.3 million employees and their families. Also, in the last 10 years, Banca Transilvania has paid taxes to the state budget of over 3.7 billion lei and has invested over 1.1 billion lei in the development of its activity.
BT is one of the most active supporters of social and educational projects, with an average of 23 million lei invested annually in sports, communities, and education. We are the number 1 supporter of Romanian basketball and the number 1 global partner in tennis, Simona Halep. We support over 1,000 projects of engagement and social responsibility annually. Bancpost, in turn, was the first bank in Romania to be fully privatized and an active player in the community. Banca Transilvania will continue this direction and assumes responsibility as the main supporter of the development of the economy, companies, and people by providing financing and contributing to the realization of individual plans.
Our priorities will also now be directed towards innovation and technology, in order to simplify and streamline the relationship between customers and BT.
We thank our clients for being and having been alongside us, including throughout this integration. We assure them that they are working with an entrepreneurial bank, for which the positive experience offered is the top priority.
Also, we thank those who contributed to the success of this acquisition, integrations and mergers: the BT and Bancpost teams, authorities, consultants and lawyers. All of them made this historic moment possible for Banca Transilvania and for the Romanian banking system.
Banca Transilvania has COURAGE. The BT story goes on”.
