BT, the first bank in Romania included in the Visa Agentic Ready program

Transilvania Bank it is the first bank in Romania that is part of the program Visa Agentic Ready, initiative through which Visa, a global leader in digital payments, prepares the payment ecosystem for the new era of autonomous commerce, based on commercial transactions initiated by agents based on artificial intelligence.

BT participates both in testing and in the development of new agency trade solutions.

The program is initially launched in Europe and offers a structured framework for testing and validating transactions made with the help of AI agents. In the first stage, participants will collaborate with Visa and merchants to evaluate how these payments can operate safely and at scale, in controlled production environments. Europe was chosen as the starting point for implementing the initiative due to the high level of adoption of technologies such as tokenization, biometric authentication, and advanced security systems – capabilities already integrated into the global Visa network.

Romania is an extremely dynamic market in the adoption of new payment technologies. The involvement of Transilvania Bank in the Visa Agentic Ready program shows the openness of the local ecosystem to the next generation of digital commerce experiences. Through this initiative, Visa aims to build the trusted infrastructure that will allow AI agents to initiate payments securely, offering consumers simpler, smarter shopping experiences that are always under their control. We believe that this type of innovation will open significant opportunities for consumers, merchants, and financial institutions in Romania, contributing to the development of smart, personalized, and efficient commerce.
