The Banca Transilvania Group reaches 800,000 participants in the pension funds of Pillar 2 and 3, following the acquisition of BRD Pensions

Banca Transilvania and BT Investments have completed the acquisition of the company BRD Pensions and the privately managed pension fund BRD, announced in May 2024 .

By debuting on Pillar 2 and consolidating on Pillar 3, where it is already present through BT Pensions, the presence of the Banca Transilvania Group on the private pensions market in Romania is increasing significantly. Thus, the number of participants managed by the BT Group in Pillar 2 and 3 reaches 800,000, compared to 200,000, when it was present only in Pillar 3.

Private pensions have become a pillar of national financial stability. If bank savings are the first form of individual accumulation, private pension funds represent the most substantial reserve of collective capital of Romanians. These are both a saving tool for the future, as well as an engine of economic development. We are pleased to be the first administrator with Romanian capital on Pillar 2 and to offer clients of the Banca Transilvania Group different saving options.

Currently, private pension funds in Romania manage approximately 40 billion euros, which represents 11% of the country's GDP.

The presence of the Banca Transilvania Group on the private pension funds market means:

  • BT Pensions Company, administrator of the funds My Pension and My Pension Plus (Pillar 3).
  • BT Pensii Plus Company (BRD Pensii), which manages the BRD fund, which will be renamed Our Pension (Pillar 2). The name changes will take place after receiving the relevant approvals from the Financial Supervisory Authority.
  • 9.5 billion lei assets, managed in Pillar 2 and 3, compared to 750 million lei, in Pillar 3.

Between 28 November – 1 December 2025, the Banca Transilvania Group will complete the integration of BRD Pensions participants, an integration that will not affect their contributions or yields.

Application BT Pay facilitates the management of pension funds. All clients, including those recently integrated, will have the possibility to consult the accumulated amounts for both Pillar 2 and Pillar 3, directly from the application. Participants in My Pension and My Pension Plus even have the possibility to modify their monthly contribution at any time, according to preferences, also from BT Pay.

BT Pensions Plus Company will have a new executive management and a new Board of Directors, whose members will begin their activity after obtaining approval from ASF.
