Currency exchange and card in euros, through the BT Pay app
BT Pay launches two functionalities, currency exchange and obtaining the card in euro, BT Mastercard Direct.
„From now on, BT Pay users can perform currency exchange within the app, as well as open current accounts in the desired currency. This option complements the types of transactions specific to current accounts. We come with good news even for those who need a euro card: they can request it online, in BT Pay, without having to visit a BT branch. Customers now have a complete experience – through BT Pay – when traveling: they can issue their card, make currency exchanges, get travel insurance, and pay with their phone ” – declares Oana Ilaș, Deputy General Director Retail Banking, Transilvania Bank.
Currency exchange option:
- BT Pay users who have the Accounts option available in the app can buy or sell currency.
- If a BT Pay user does not have an account in the purchase currency, it can be easily opened, being one of the necessary steps for making the currency exchange or anytime, still in BT Pay/Accounts category.
- The Currency Exchange option appears in the Accounts category in BT Pay, for each account separately.
- There are 15 currencies for exchange: leu (Romanian and Moldovan), euro, dollar (American, Canadian, and Australian), British pound, Swiss franc, crown (Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, and Czech), Japanese yen, forint, and zloty.
Option to issue a debit card in euro, BT Mastercard Direct:
- The request, issuance, payments and administration are done online.
- Clients can apply for a card by accessing the Cards/physical cards list category in BT Pay, following the steps indicated by the application. Clients who do not have an account in euros will automatically have one opened when the card is issued. The method of receiving the physical card is at the client's choice: either at one of the bank's branches or at the desired address, by courier.
- The digital card is available in BT Pay before receiving the physical card and can be used for shopping at merchants, using the phone, as well as online.
- It can be funded immediately with euros, after performing a Currency Exchange in the application.
- Euro transfers – request and sending – are made based on the phone number between BT Pay users who have this type of card.
- In the BT Pay application, a series of details can be consulted, namely: the balance and card data, transactions, grouping of card expenses by domains, IBAN, setting transaction limits, card blocking and unblocking.
- BT Mastercard Direct is useful for those who travel or live in one of the 20 countries of the European Union where the official currency is the euro: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and the Netherlands. The card can be used for purchases in euros both online and at merchants, and the commission is zero. Also, with this card, cash (euros) can be withdrawn from ATMs in the mentioned countries.
