Banca Transilvania launches BT Pay Italy: Italian IBAN, digital card and instant transfers
Transilvania Bank, the largest bank in Romania and Southeastern Europe, announces the launch BT Pay Italia for Romanians residing in Italy and for Italians. The application means solutions for day-to-day banking in Italy, Romania, and anywhere in the world, as well as for connecting with family and friends who use BT Pay in Italy or Romania.
The bank announced in February 2025 the expansion of BT Pay in Europe, an ecosystem built in Romania thanks to the Transilvania Bank application, used by over 4 million people.
The first step necessary for using the application is downloading BT Pay from Google Play or App Store.
BT Pay also comes with an Italian IBAN, so income from Italy can be received in the BT account, without a collection fee. Also, BT Pay Italy means the following services and benefits:
- Online account in euros and lei, opened through the application, based on the Italian or Romanian identity card, in the latter case also requiring the document certifying residence in Italy. The commission is zero for opening and managing the account, as well as deposits into the account.
- BT Visa debit card, in euros, digital, which can be used immediately in the app, as well as a physical card, received by clients for free, anywhere in Italy. The card can be funded at no cost through money transfers from other cards enrolled in BT Pay, issued by banks and fintechs from Romania, Italy or other countries;
- Payment with the phone and confirmation of online payments through the application;
- Instant transfers in euros or lei to people who use BT Pay in Italy or Romania, free of charge, based on the recipient's phone number or IBAN; money transfers anywhere in the world;
- Savings account in euros, with an interest rate of 2.2%/year, as well as the possibility to save through term deposits;
- Currency exchanges;
- Cash withdrawals from any ATMs in Italy. BT offers free withdrawals for 5 free withdrawals/month from ATMs in any country in the world.
Banca Transilvaniais the only Romanian bank in Italy, with a Romanian-Italian team in Rome.
For a person from Italy, until now all roads led to Rome to be able to do banking with our bank. The launch of BT Pay Italy means a paradigm shift due to technology - banking anytime and anywhere, through the phone. It means BT Italy 2.0. We want to extend the success that BT Pay has had in Romania since its launch, through this variant adapted to those from Italy. This is only the beginning because we are preparing successive launches of very useful functionalities for customers.
