Who are the members of the BT Board of Directors 2026 - 2030
Within General Assembly of Transilvania Bank from April 28, 2026 was appointed the new Board of Directors for the 2026 – 2030 term. The composition includes four members reconfirmed in office and three new members.
The structure approved by the shareholders combines the experience accumulated in previous terms with expertise in various fields of activity. The complementarity is given both by the contribution to the transformation projects of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group and by the activity in areas such as: international financial markets, fintech, governance, retail and corporate banking, financial supervision, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, risk management, operational management - both in Romania and in other countries of the European Union, as well as in the United Kingdom and Canada.
Composition of the new BT Board of Directors:

Horia Ciorcilă - President 
Horia Ciorcilă has been part of the story of Transilvania Bank since the beginning, being one of its founders. Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2002, he has played an essential role in BT's evolution, which has become over time the leader of the banking market in Romania and Southeast Europe. This year, he received a new mandate from the shareholders.
He is part of the first generation of entrepreneurs in post-1989 Romania, who had the courage to build businesses in an unstable economic environment, but with opportunities. The businesses created then laid the foundations of the Romanian entrepreneurial fabric, and those that grew played an essential role in the country's economic development and European integration. He is decorated with the Nihil Sine Deo distinction (2024) by the Royal Family of Romania.
Ivo Gueorguiev – Vice President
Ivo Guerguiev is a Non-executive Member of the Board of Directors since 2014 and has over 30 years in banking, financial markets, and fintech. The shareholders granted him a new mandate, until 2030. Through his activity within the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (1993 – 2001), he contributed to the development of expertise in retail banking in Central and Eastern Europe. His professional activity covers a number of countries – Romania, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Serbia, Slovakia, Poland etc. – where he has held leadership positions on boards of directors and executive committees of financial institutions, fintech companies, and asset management organizations. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Salt Bank – part of the Banca Transilvania Group.
Mirela Bordea – Independent non-executive member
Mirela Bordea is an independent non-executive Member of the Board of Directors of Banca Transilvania since 2017 and has over 30 years of experience in the banking sector. In 2026, she was reconfirmed by the shareholders for another term. Her professional journey includes leadership roles in areas essential for the functioning of a financial institution, such as risk management, lending, internal control, and governance. The majority of her career is linked to Credit Europe Bank (formerly Finansbank), where she coordinated risk and lending activities, later becoming Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors. Between 2014 – 2017, she was a member of the Board of Governors of the Romanian Banking Association, engaging in initiatives for the development of the banking sector in Romania.
Florin Predescu‑Vasvari – Independent non-executive member
Florin Predescu Vasvari has been part of the BT Board of Directors since 2022, and in 2026 he received a new mandate. With almost 20 years of activity in the academic field and a PhD in accounting, he is a professor at London Business School and, at the same time, holds roles in the academic and governance environment internationally. He is the Academic Director of the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Private Equity and, since 2025, the Executive Dean for Executive Education in the Middle East, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the Newton Program. In addition to academic activity, he has significant experience in boards of directors and risk and investment committees in about 10 countries.
Gabriela Nistor – Non-executive Member
Gabriela Nistor is one of the new members of the BT Board of Directors. Her career spans over 25 years in banking and management, built mainly within Transilvania Bank and other companies in the BT Financial Group. At Transilvania Bank, she started her career in 1995 as a credit officer at the Cluj Branch, after which she coordinated marketing, cards, and retail banking areas. Between 2008 and 2022, she held top management positions, including Executive Director of Retail Banking and Deputy General Manager – Retail & Network. She has been a member of the Boards of Directors of BT Leasing, BT Asset Management, and ERB Retail Services (currently BT Direct), where since 2019 she has been President of the Board of Directors.
He led Salt Bank (BT Group) from 2022 to 2026, contributing to the launch of the first 100% digital bank in Romania. Since 2024, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the same bank. At the industry level, he was Vice President of the Romanian Banking Association between 2022 and 2025.
Doru Lionăchescu – Independent Non-Executive Member
Doru Lionăchescu is one of the new members of the Board of Directors for 2026 – 2030. Since 2022, he has been part of the Board of Directors of Salt Bank. He has over three decades of experience in the financial sector, consulting, and corporate governance, being consistently involved in the development of the banking and capital market in Romania. He founded Capital Partners in 2006, later becoming BT Capital Partners, where he was Chairman of the Board of Directors for ten years. He has held leadership roles in financial institutions such as ING Bank Romania, Citibank Romania, Bancpost, and OTP Bank Romania. Before his banking career, he was involved in economic journalism, being co-founder and deputy editor-in-chief of Capital magazine.
Teodor Torgie – Independent non-executive member
Teodor Torgie is one of the new members of the Board of Directors. He has been with Banca Transilvania since its beginnings, being one of its founders. His career combines technical and managerial training with over three decades of experience in entrepreneurship, technology, and leading companies in the IT and financial fields. He is a co-founder and was Director of Alfasoft, which later became Endava, where he held the positions of Delivery Director and Executive Chairman.
His experience also includes involvement in the journey of some companies within the Banca Transilvania Group, being, at one point, a member of the Board of Directors of Strim, later BT Capital Partners, and a member of the Board of Directors of Code Crafters, which strengthened the link between his expertise in the digital field and BT directions.

The Board of Directors plays an essential role in the strategic direction of Transilvania Bank, through responsibilities that ensure the stability, performance, and long-term development of the bank. It oversees the strategy and financial evolution, ensures compliance with governance and regulatory principles, and approves decisions that contribute to strengthening BT's position as a leader of the banking system in Romania.
The composition approved by the shareholders strengthens the capacity of Banca Transilvania to navigate in a volatile economic context and reflects the institution's commitment to solid governance, financial performance, and value creation for shareholders, clients, and the economy.
