The story of BaBeTe, launched by Banca Transilvania, starts on 1 March this year and lasts nine days — three times longer than any miracle :).

Inspired by the “Babele” spring tradition, the banking shopping campaign takes place over exactly the same period, 1–9 March this year, and brings discount after discount on BT products and services for individuals and companies — loans, cards, the BT contactless bracelet, Internet Banking and Mobile Banking, leasing, etc. — to set Romanians up for a good year. Among BT’s priorities at the start of the year was another banking shopping campaign to add to those the bank has launched over the past three years, firsts for the Romanian market: Bank Friday, DragoBT, Banksylvania, Un Mai Muncitoresc and Bank to School. Each delivered results beyond expectations for online sales of banking products, so the motivation was all the stronger. We kept what worked best in terms of mechanics, but we also let ourselves be inspired — in both concept and offer — and here’s what came out!

Babele + BT: 9 days of shopping for banking products

In previous years, around this time it was DragoBT (a campaign whose concept evoked Romania’s celebration of love, Dragobete); this time we took inspiration from the “Babele” tradition. It’s part of Romanian folklore and it lasts several days. It also announces the long‑awaited spring in an original way. The idea was born in‑house at BT, and development took a good 2 weeks, through collaboration among colleagues from Retail Segments & Products and Marketing & Communication.

As the tradition goes, Romanians choose a day between 1 and 9 March to be their “baba,” and, depending on the weather on that day, it is said their year will follow suit. Sunshine would mean a good year, but rain isn’t a bad sign either, as it foretells a fruitful one.

BT’s shopping list for BaBeTe

BaBeTe is both a campaign and a celebration across the Banca Transilvania Financial Group, with offers from the bank and several BT Group companies. It runs exclusively online, on BT’s website, with 9 days of promotions so that each day from 1–9 March this year comes with discounts for existing clients and for those who want to start banking with BT. What’s new versus other banking shopping campaigns is that every day — every BaBeTa — brings fresh offers.
