From Entrepreneurs to Entrepreneurs: Five Lessons Learned at the First Kane Citizens Programme Meeting

In partnership with Razvan Crisan, a long-time friend of our bank, we hosted last week in Bucharest the first of six meetings in the Kane Citizens Programme. These bring together entrepreneurs from different industries to discuss collaboration opportunities as well as solutions to their day-to-day challenges.

We believe in collaboration and in bringing ideas, people and projects together. That’s why we’re proud to support a programme that’s so relevant for entrepreneurs.

The first session in the Kane Citizens Programme (Food Entrepreneurs, aimed at entrepreneurs in the food industry and those who run restaurants) featured Mihai Simiuc – CEO, frufru (which you may know from Bucurestiul Intreprinzator), Razvan Crisan from M60/ Kane World Food Studio - Restaurant & Bar and, on our side, Dragos Ungureanu, Deputy Commercial Director, SME, BT - www.btmic.ro.

We streamed the entire conversation live on our bank’s Twitter account. Below are the main takeaways and a few thoughts to inspire you, give you energy to keep going and ideas for growing your business.

  1. Collaboration, collaboration, collaboration – “there’s strength in numbers” isn’t just a saying. It’s the day-to-day reality for entrepreneurs in the food industry. Even though it’s still early days, association initiatives can create synergies and give the sector more clout.

  1. “Sharing is caring” – it’s hard to find good suppliers, good people and efficient solutions for your business. Setting up a formal communication network among small businesses, sharing useful information and lessons learned can take businesses to the next level.

  1. Patience is one of the ingredients of a successful business. Everyone agreed that success doesn’t happen overnight. Good things take time and energy.

  1. Professionalism in everything (from communications to the supplier record-keeping system) is essential for healthy, sustainable growth.

  1. Financing on terms tailored to small businesses, with attention to their specifics and a clear understanding of how they operate, is more than welcome. BT Mic was there through Dragos Ungureanu, and we’re available online or in branches for more details.

The next Kane Citizens Programme meeting in partnership with Banca Transilvania takes place on Wednesday, July 5, from 11:00. See you on BT on Twitter for live updates. Topic: Design Entrepreneurs with support from V for Vintage. See you soon!
