It’s podcast time! 🎧 Today we’re talking about doing good, so alongside Andi Moisescu, our podcast host, we have a guest to match — Melania Medeleanu. 😄 Melania is a journalist with over 20 years’ experience in television, a speech therapist, a trainer passionate about diction & public speaking and, not least, a mother.
She started with Afterschool Clinceni, then laid the foundations of Asociatia Magic, and now has a new project — “Zi de bine”, which aims to build communities, support thousands of people in vulnerable situations and raise awareness around overlooked causes.
Hit play. ▶️ We think it’s worth it!
"Step by step, doing good took shape and turned into purpose."
- Once you start doing good, it becomes addictive. “It’s scientifically proven that when you help someone, it makes you happier.”
- There’s a special kind of satisfaction when you’re involved in something that has meaning: “I really love telling people about it and seeing them join me in projects.”
- You can’t do good if you don’t look at what’s wrong. It’s essential — to look at how bad things can get and ask, “What can I do?”, because inevitably there’s something you can do somewhere, but you have to confront that wrong and understand it.
Zi de bine!
- The “Zi de bine” projects focus on social causes that don’t get enough attention. One example is mental illness. This pandemic year should be a wake‑up call about mental health.
- “Zi de bine” tackles social causes, one for each month of the year. They are funded with the help of people celebrating that month.
- Depression is very common among teenagers. It’s hard to spot unless you know your child very well.
- 8 out of 100 high school students have said they want to take their own life, and according to the World Health Organization, suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people aged 15 to 19, the first being car accidents.
- This month, at “Zi de bine” the money raised will go to Team line — the first integrated emotional health & emotional first aid project in Romania dedicated to teenagers aged 13 to 21.
