In banking, as in life, time is money. So use yours wisely — especially when you need to come to the bank for cash and you’re withdrawing a larger amount.

When you plan the day ahead, it helps to set a schedule (and appointments 😊), and in some cases that applies to your banking too. For example, if you need to collect a large amount of cash, you’ll need an appointment at BT.

For security reasons — yours, our clients’ and our colleagues’ — our branches and agencies don’t keep very large sums of cash on site. As a result, for larger cash withdrawals we need to bring in additional cash to the locations where appointments are booked.

To keep things simple, here are a few details:

• Want to withdraw under 40,000 lei (or the equivalent in EUR or USD)? Good news — no appointment needed. Just stop by.

• Planning to take out more than 40,000 lei/5,000 EUR/USD, up to 200,000 lei (including the equivalent amounts in foreign currency)? Then you’ll need to book an appointment at least 24 hours in advance.

• If you need to withdraw more than 200,000 lei, or over 50,000 EUR/USD, please come to the bank to make an appointment 48 hours before the actual withdrawal.

• If you need large amounts in currencies such as GBP, CHF, CAD, AUD, DKK, NOK, SEK, JPY, CZK, PLN, HUF or MDL, you’ll also need to visit us to schedule an appointment 48 hours in advance.

How and when should you make an appointment?

It’s easy: drop by a branch and fill in a cash withdrawal request. If you want to withdraw more than 10,000 EUR or the equivalent in any currency, we are required to ask for supporting documents. That’s the law — banking is banking 😊 — and you can find more details on Ask BT.

Do you run a very small business, or even an SME?

We know it’s not easy to be an entrepreneur. At certain times you’re very busy and many unexpected situations can arise, but if you’ve booked an appointment for a cash withdrawal, it’s best to come to the branch and withdraw the amount requested.

We say this because it’s in your best interest. If, for any reason, you can’t keep the appointment, we will charge a penalty fee of 0.25% of the requested amount for sums over 200,000 lei or 50,000 EUR/USD. Wouldn’t it be better to make sure from the start that you can pick up the cash that day?
