Tips to Make Saving Easier

We all want to make the most of our budgets. Saving helps us make important purchases, such as a car or even a home, and it also helps us fulfil a dream — like visiting a far‑away country.

Savings can even give you the chance to turn a hobby into your own business.

To help you save successfully, here are a few tips that can make it easier to set money aside.

  • Start as soon as you can! Ideally, begin with your next paycheck; if you put the decision off, you’ll always find a reason to spend the money.
  • Start small! That way, you won’t feel that the amount you’ve earmarked for savings is missing from your other expenses.
  • Choose the goals you want to save for! With every deposit, your goal gets closer. You could save for a laptop, a car, a long‑awaited vacation, a down payment on a home, a special gift for someone you care about, or for your child.
  • Keep your savings in an account that isn’t linked to your card! By separating accounts, you’ll be less tempted to use the money for day‑to‑day spending.
  • Move the money as close to payday as possible! After your monthly income is credited and you’ve paid the bills, transfer the amount you’ve committed to save.

Find the right solution for your savings

Banks are just as keen to encourage saving, so they have developed services to support this.

For example, you can manage your savings via Internet Banking wherever you are, without being tied to branch opening hours.

You can set a monthly budget and the bank will make the transfer automatically on the date you choose.

Here are a few saving options BT has prepared for you:

  • Easy‑access savings in RON – you can set money aside without losing interest and have access to your funds at any time, provided you maintain the minimum opening balance.
  • Euro savings – you can withdraw cash without closing the deposit, and there is no account maintenance fee
  • KidCont – an account where you can save in both RON and euros, which grows along with your children.
  • Term deposits – if you already have a lump sum you want to set aside, you can choose classic deposits or a deposit tailored to your needs.

Savings are guaranteed by the deposit guarantee fund in the banking system, with limits that have risen over time; the cap is now 100,000 euros per depositor, per bank.
