Two high-performance Mindray SV600 ventilators purchased via the Donate for the Front Line platform have been delivered to Suceava County Hospital and Victor Babes Clinical Hospital in Bucharest, coordinated by the Department for Emergency Situations. 

"This ventilator is vital for patients with COVID-19 because they develop severe respiratory failure and can no longer breathe on their own; the device replaces lung function and keeps them alive. It is important for people to help and donate, first and foremost to enable staff to protect themselves with the materials they need to care for patients, because if staff fall ill, then who will look after the patients?", Dr. Delia Stanciu, senior ICU physician at Victor Babes Clinical Hospital.
 

Donate for the Front Line is an initiative by Banca Transilvania, Mobexpert, Bitdefender and eMAG, to support doctors and medical staff, as well as everyone on the front line fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
 

Through the platform, 350,000 N95 (FFP2) high-protection masks have been donated to hospital doctors. In addition, over 5 million protective masks have been distributed to family doctors, police officers, gendarmes and military personnel through the Department for Emergency Situations.

So far, the initiative has brought together over 20,000 people who have donated. Metropolitan Life has also joined the initiative with a donation of RON 1 million.

The highest number of donations per capita has come from Voluntari, Floresti, Popesti Leordeni, Otopeni and Bucharest. To date, the cities that have contributed the most through donations are Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Constanta and Iasi.
