To keep your money safe, in light of the SRI warning about a malware campaign aimed at stealing banking credentials from mobile phones and using the lure message Detalii secrete COVID-19 (details here), our recommendations are as follows:

• do not click links in unsolicited emails or from unknown senders, especially those that appear to have been sent by the bank;
• do not open/download unsolicited email attachments or those received from unknown senders, especially ones that seem to be sent by the bank;
• do not install mobile apps from unknown sources, other than the official stores, or apps that are not widely used;
• when you access BT24 Internet Banking, do so only from the bank’s website or by typing the address into your browser’s address bar, always entering it from the keyboard rather than following a link;
• check in your browser’s address bar that the address shown is the known Internet Banking address;
• make sure you have an encrypted (https) connection to the BT24 Internet Banking site and that the digital certificate is issued to Banca Transilvania;
• if, during login or while making transactions, you see messages asking you to wait for a period of time for various reasons, please close the session immediately and notify BT (0264 30 80 28 or contact@btrl.ro).
• do not carry out test logins or transactions, no matter who claims to request this. Banca Transilvania will never ask you to do so;
• follow best security practice on the PC you use to log in: make sure antivirus and antispyware solutions are installed and regularly updated; do not save your Internet Banking credentials on the computer; passwords should be complex (include lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers and special characters) and be changed regularly.

For information about the situation created by the current pandemic, please use only official government sources (such as https://stirioficiale.ro/informatii) and do not install apps on your computer or phone that claim to offer information or advice.
