#WeeklyReport June 8–14: The worldwide ratio of recoveries to confirmed cases approached 48% on June 14

 

The daily growth rate of confirmed cases worldwide (10-day moving average) continued to decline last week to 1.761% on 14 June (from 1.892% at the end of the previous week), reaching the lowest level since early March.

 

The total number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic is approaching 8 million (7.9 million on Sunday, 14 June).

 

The global recoveries-to-confirmed-cases ratio continued to trend higher last week, reaching almost 48% on 14 June (the highest since 13 March). That is an increase of 2.9 percentage points versus 7 June.

 

Romania:

  • New confirmed cases rose to 320 on 14 June, the highest since 7 May. The 10-day moving average for this indicator stood at 209 on Sunday, 14 June, the highest since 18 May, up by almost 24% compared with the 7 June level.
  • The recovery rate was 71.5% on 14 June, similar to the level recorded on 7 June.
  • Active cases increased by 7.9% between 7 June and 14 June, to 4,870, the highest since 29 May.
  • Looking at the dynamics of active cases (10-day moving average), Germany has been in negative territory since 13 April, while Romania posted positive values on 13 and 14 June for the first time after 37 consecutive days of negative readings.
  • From 15 June, Romania introduced further easing measures, including the resumption of flights to 17 European countries and the reopening of shopping malls.

 

US: the 10-day moving average of new confirmed cases rose by 0.4% between 7 June and 14 June, to the highest level in the past three weeks. The recoveries-to-confirmed-cases ratio continued to trend higher, reaching almost 27% on 14 June. That is an increase of 0.8 percentage points versus 7 June.

 

Germany: the 10-day moving average of new confirmed cases continued to decline last week, to 305 on 14 June, the lowest since 12 March (down 14.3% versus the previous week). The recovery rate remained on an upward trend, reaching 91.8% on Sunday, up 0.7 percentage points compared with 7 June. 

 

France has decided to reopen its borders with all EU countries, as well as to reopen restaurants and cafés in Paris from 15 June.
