You know that moment when, around lunchtime, you pop out shopping to get ready for the upcoming mini-break? Crowds everywhere, heavy traffic, a long shopping list and a queue at the checkout… because everyone else had the same plan ㋡.

Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your time, your shopping and your money:

• Better to get a head start ✔: how about going shopping before lunch, maybe even in the morning? The streets are quieter and others are still at the office :p
• It’s cool not to pay with your card: if you’re our customer, you can pay with your phone — via the BT Pay app, with Garmin Pay, Fitbit Pay or with any of the contactless accessories in the BT Pay collection.
• It’s fine to ask for money :) : if your shopping list is longer than your budget, no problem. You can receive money quickly via BT24 or, even more handy, via BT Pay. Better still, you can “Split the bill” with your friends or family, again in the BT Pay app. You pick up one, they pick up another.
• It’s smart to carry some cash ツ : we know you’re increasingly “digital”, but slip a little cash into your wallet because, as the saying goes, “better safe than sorry.” You might hit those moments when more than 8 transactions per second are being processed on BT cards and… you know… since nothing and no one is perfect — neither we nor our card system — it could happen just when you’re about to pay for your shopping.
• It’s BT style to withdraw contactless cash from the ATM ㋡ : yes, yes, we’re not kidding — our ATMs are getting friendlier. So if you have the BT Pay app or Apple Pay on your phone, or one of the BT Pay accessories, you’ve got everything you need.
