Volunteering is pretty much the simplest way to grow personally and professionally. And if you’re thinking about getting involved, there are plenty of areas to choose from: arts and culture, environmental protection, sports and recreation, civic activism, health, education and research, social services, human rights, humanitarian or philanthropic aid, social development and community development.

The kind of volunteering we at BT are especially interested in is environmental. The reason is simple: in Romania, 3 hectares are logged every hour, every single day (including holidays), according to Tasuleasa Social. Forests bring multiple benefits: they generate oxygen, absorb carbon, reduce the impact of floods, prevent soil erosion, help cut soil pollution and make landscapes more beautiful :).

If you want to volunteer for the environment, you’ll have the chance to take part in conservation activities that help keep our surroundings cleaner, make new friends, learn about the environment and pollution, and look for ways to prevent it.

We want to support the environment by planting new forests, so we’ve organised several tree-planting initiatives. Together with Tasuleasa Social, we’ve run such plantings every year since 2014. In 2014 and 2015, we planted trees on 20 hectares in Budesti-Fanate, and in 2016 on 10 hectares in Sanmihaiu de Campie, Bistrita-Nasaud County.

This year, on 28 October, we’ll be planting the Transylvania Forest in Tritenii de Jos, Cluj County, together with our friends at Tasuleasa Social. In total, we have 10 hectares of land and 40,000 saplings to plant. Join us!
