BT Flying Blue Cards: How to Turn Your Purchases into Airline Tickets

If you ask five writers, painters or any other kind of artist how time is measured, I’d bet my right hand that at least two or three will conjure up answers you could only parse with a philosophy textbook by your side.

I’m wired more simply. Mathematically. Time is the countdown to the next holiday. I’ve got 2 weeks left until I head there, in two months we’re going somewhere else, we’ve only got three days to spend I-don’t-know-where… And I think I’ve told you how it drives me up the wall not to have something lined up. Feels like I’m wasting my time.

I like it when colleagues, friends, even strangers come and ask me about trips and ask for advice. It makes me feel I haven’t been blogging in vain over these past 3 years. It’s great to pass this travel “bug” on to others, although I’m convinced everyone has it—it’s just that for some it doesn’t really show because of exhausting work schedules, or because they have no one to travel with, or because money is a limited resource. So if you can, folks, spend (almost) all your money on holidays, so you won’t regret it when, in old age, you’re asked to answer the question “what did I get out of life?”, as the song goes.

And since we’re talking planning, with your permission, let me introduce two cards that are just right for people who travel — BT Flying Blue, two cards that basically turn your everyday spend into miles, which you can later use to buy plane tickets or other things. See here the list of partners in the Flying Blue programme.

About the BT Flying Blue card

The BT Flying Blue card is a credit card that lets users turn purchases into airline tickets and duty-free products. It was developed by Banca Transilvania in partnership with Flying Blue through AIR FRANCE KLM and TAROM. The card comes in two versions: BT Flying Blue Classic or BT Flying Blue Premium.

BT Flying Blue “Classic” and “Premium”

The “Classic” version of the Visa card offers, as main benefits: 1.5 Flying Blue miles for every 4 RON spent with AIR FRANCE KLM and TAROM, as well as on transactions abroad, and 1.0 Flying Blue miles for every 4 RON paid with this card in Romania.

The BT Flying Blue “Premium” card offers, as main benefits: 2.0 Flying Blue miles for every 4 RON spent with AIR FRANCE KLM and TAROM, 2.5 Flying Blue miles for every 4 RON spent abroad, and 1.5 miles for every 4 RON paid in Romania.

Miles can be used to buy airline tickets, free extra baggage, a cabin upgrade, products from the online Flying Blue Store, or other goods and services with more than 100 partners (hotels, car rental, etc.).

Why get a card

Apply now for the BT Flying Blue card (link), use it for everyday purchases and you can earn up to 5,000 bonus miles, and even two plane tickets to Amsterdam, Hamburg, Geneva or Paris!
