On February 10, the final of the Romanian Men’s Basketball Cup took place. It was held in Cluj-Napoca, at Sala Horia Demian — a sold-out event.

We can tell you it was incredible. The atmosphere in the arena was electric, and supporters of both teams backed their favourites with all their heart. We’re big basketball fans, but we were rooting for “U” — and we’ll say that outright, no question. We don’t think that’s a secret; a few years ago we made it clear: two colours, one love. (we’re sure fans just sang that line 🎼)

The game was tight, but U managed to bring the Cup back to Cluj. It’s a first, given the old legend that the host club never wins the Cup — in this case U-BT. They’ve told us all along they don’t believe in myths… they fight for titles. And that’s how it turned out.

What’s more, Donatas Tarolis was also named the Final MVP.

 On another note, U-BT have also qualified for the quarterfinals of the FIBA Europe Cup, a very strong performance for the club and for Romanian basketball. They finished Group J in 2nd place, so on March 4 and 11 they face medi Bayreuth.

We’re also a supporter of the Romanian Basketball Federation — or, as we like to say, Romanian basketball’s number one supporter.
