Key Messages from the Banca Transilvania Group at BT Investor Day 2026

At the BT Investor Day, Banca Transilvania’s management team set out the Group’s growth priorities, business strategy and objectives for the period ahead. Below are a few highlights from the statements made at the event:

Ömer Tetik - CEO, BT

BT has doubled in size every five years

“Over the past 25 years, BT has doubled in size every five years. We have grown significantly faster than Romania’s economy and most competitors. We have not allowed our growth to be constrained by the banking system’s overall pace or by the degree of financial intermediation. We identified needs the bank alone could not address and built solutions through leasing, microfinance, consumer lending, asset management, brokerage and other complementary activities.”

Ioan Nistor - Chief Macroeconomist, BT

Romania’s convergence towards the EU average has been remarkable

“Looking at the long-term trend, Romania’s convergence towards the European Union average has been remarkable. GDP per capita relative to the European average rose from 56% to 78% over a decade — a performance few countries have achieved in such a short time. At the same time, a EUR 380 billion economy is more than a statistic. It means households, entrepreneurs, companies and an economy that has consolidated its position, becoming the second‑largest in Central and Eastern Europe.”

Oana Ilaș - Deputy CEO, Retail Banking, BT

Scale, our ecosystem and digitalization are BT’s strengths

“Looking at our business model end‑to‑end, we see several important competitive advantages. First, scale: our customer base, distribution network, digital ecosystem, payments infrastructure and the Group’s overall size. Second, the portfolio of specialist companies within the BT Group. Third, our digital model, which we continue to develop and make increasingly relevant for customers. In addition, integrating the Group’s companies across all interaction channels allows us to deliver more connected experiences and to deepen this relationship further.”

Tiberiu Moisă - Deputy CEO, Corporate & SME, BT

Nearly one in two new companies opens its first account with BT

“Today we serve around 680,000 microenterprises, SMEs and mid‑corporates. A particularly important indicator for us is that this year approximately 45% of newly established companies in Romania opened their first business account with Banca Transilvania. A year ago we were talking about one in three newly established companies; now we are approaching one in two. Whatever the drivers behind this outcome, what matters to us is to remain the financial partner of choice for companies in Romania, regardless of their stage of development.”

Cosmin Călin - Deputy CEO, Large Corporate, BT

BT finances Romania’s strategic projects

“One of our major objectives has been to become the principal financier and supporter of Romania’s economy. In recent years, despite a challenging economic context, we have managed to participate in financing the most important strategic projects in Romania, whether in infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, energy efficiency or other investments developed by private companies and public institutions. Many of the strategic projects planned for Romania have already been implemented, and we are proud to have been part of this success story.”

Andrzej Dominiak - Deputy CEO, Technology, BT

BT has implemented over 60 AI solutions

“We currently have over 60 AI‑based solutions already in production and a similar number of projects underway. Among so‑called citizen developers — employees from different departments who are early adopters of new technologies — the figures are even more impressive: approximately 3,600 agents have been built so far. We are not focused on the number of users or how often tools are used, but on the tangible impact these solutions have on the business and the value they generate for the organization.”

Corina Cojocaru - CEO, BT Pensia Noastră

Over half of new voluntary pension participants chose BT this year

“In the past three years, the voluntary pensions industry has attracted over 450,000 new participants. Of these, approximately 44% joined the system through Banca Transilvania, which means nearly 200,000 people. Since the beginning of this year, more than half of those who started saving through a voluntary pension fund have chosen Banca Transilvania.”

Daniela Secară - CEO, BT Capital Partners

BT Capital Partners aims to double assets under management

“BT Capital Partners is currently the largest broker in Romania. Our objective is to continue growing by expanding our client base and doubling assets under management. We are targeting both Romanian and international investors, and we aim to become the main gateway to the opportunities offered by Romania’s economy.”

Dan Dascăl - CEO, BT Asset Management

BT Asset Management has surpassed half a million clients

“This has been a very good year for Romania’s asset management industry and, in particular, for BT Asset Management. The results reflect a combination of factors working together: the positive performance of markets, the strength of the Banca Transilvania Group, the growth of BT Pay, and continued investment in innovation and digitalization. Our client base has surpassed half a million, and going forward we will continue to invest in delivering an ever simpler and more accessible client experience.”

Nevenca Doca - Senior Executive Director, Human Resources, BT

AI must drive efficiency, growth and revenue

“We are adopting artificial intelligence responsibly, aware of both the opportunities and the risks. Some relate to cybersecurity, but there is also a less visible risk: the cost of using AI. Artificial intelligence is not cheap, and value appears only when it is used intelligently, in use cases that generate real benefits. Our goal is to use artificial intelligence not only for efficiency, but also to drive growth and revenue.”

Sergiu Mircea - Executive Director, Marketing, Communications & Customer Experience, BT

Approximately 35% of Romania’s bankable population are BT clients

“We compete first and foremost through brand strength, our network and the trust we have built with customers. Today, approximately 35% of Romania’s bankable population are BT clients, and 71% of them consider Banca Transilvania their primary bank — the highest conversion rate in the market. This means that about a quarter of the country’s bankable population run their main banking relationship with BT. At the same time, we still see significant growth potential, given that only about 12 million Romanians currently have a bank account, which offers meaningful development opportunities for the entire banking sector.”
