What motivates you to grow?

The belief that tomorrow I can do something better than today, and that the future belongs to those who learn continuously, bringing inspiration and a positive impact to the lives of those around me.

What would you say is your most important achievement as a leader?

My team, from whom I draw energy and inspiration every day. Through expertise, complementarity, collegiality and human banking, what my colleagues do every day has a direct impact on 3.5 million customers.

Oana Ilaș is the youngest member of Banca Transilvania’s top management, serving as Deputy CEO, Retail Banking since October 2022.

She oversees BT’s business line with the largest customer base, over 3.5 million. Last year and the first part of this year brought the bank over 2,000 new retail customers per day. The complementary set of card issuance and card acceptance solutions has positioned the bank as market leader, a status supported by an agile digital transformation journey with many firsts over the years. Also, thanks to the online banking solutions launched by the bank, over 70% of customers are digitally active, and BT Pay has become the banking app with the largest number of users in Romania, 2.5 million.

Her journey at Banca Transilvania began in 2002 as a customer advisor at the BT Cluj Branch. In 2004 she moved into cards and retail banking at the bank’s Head Office, then became Retail Banking Coordinating Director, and later Executive Director for Retail Product Development and Management.

Oana Ilaș graduated from Babeș-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca), majoring in Marketing, holds an Executive MBA from the University of Sheffield (United Kingdom), and has completed a series of specialist courses.

In 2019, she ranked among the 100 Top Young Managers, a list compiled by Business Magazin.
