Banca Transilvania is providing financing of nearly 32 million euros to Softronic (Craiova) to modernise 19 electric locomotives, with CFR Călători as the beneficiary.

BT is Softronic’s main lender and has been working with the company for over 20 years. With this new financing, Banca Transilvania is supporting sustainability in Romania’s transport sector and across Romanian privately owned manufacturing companies.

The contract, with a total value of 100 million euros, was awarded through public procurement under the Programme for the modernisation and procurement of rolling stock, funded through PNRR.

In Romania, Softronic is the only manufacturer of electric locomotives with asynchronous motors and of Hyperion electric multiple-unit trains, and exports to Sweden, Hungary and Bulgaria. Products manufactured by Softronic help improve transport quality and sustainable mobility by making the transport of goods and people more efficient, while reducing negative effects on the environment and people.
