Starting today, the BT POS app, Banca Transilvania’s mobile payments solution, enables merchants in Romania to accept seamlessly and securely all forms of contactless payment made using Tap to Pay on iPhone, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and other digital wallets, using just an iPhone and the BT POS app - with no additional hardware or payment terminal required.
At checkout, the merchant simply asks the customer to hold their contactless payment method near the iPhone, and the payment is completed securely using NFC technology. Tap to Pay on iPhone also supports PIN entry, including accessibility options.
Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone technology uses the iPhone’s built-in features to protect merchant and customer data privacy and security. When a payment is processed, Apple does not store card numbers on its servers, so merchants and customers can be confident their data remains secure.*
The solution, offered by Banca Transilvania, instantly turns the phone into a POS for accepting contactless payments right on the device. Through its collaboration with Apple, BT is launching Tap to Pay on iPhone for local entrepreneurs, giving them a simple way to accept contactless payments directly on the phone.
