Over 2,800 students, 650 parents and 220 education professionals took part between January 2025 and June 2026 in the what's next? programme, supported by Banca Transilvania and implemented by Save the Children together with partners from the education system. The programme reached 65 schools in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Mures.

For many children and teenagers, the question What do I do next? comes with excitement, but also uncertainty. Choosing a high school, a university or a career can feel overwhelming when they don’t have all the information, role models or resources they need.

What’s next? helps young people better understand their aptitudes, interests and options. Through career guidance sessions and learning resources, students had the chance to explore their potential and look to the future with more confidence. The project’s impact goes further: parents and teachers were involved as well, so that important decisions are easier to make, with support, dialogue and clear reference points.

Confidence that there is a path and it can be found

The story continues in the 2026-2027 school year, with new in-class activities, mentoring sessions, themed visits and an expansion of the resources available online, on the what’s next? website. The goal is to give more young people access to the tools that help them build their own path. The programme’s ambition is to support, in total, over 5,000 students.

Every choice starts with a question about the future. Through what’s next?, thousands of young people have had the chance to turn their questions into plans, and those plans into concrete steps to realise their potential.
