BT Group News: March 2026

March was a month of strategic milestones for the Banca Transilvania Group. The BT brand crossed a symbolic threshold, surpassing USD 1 billion in the Brand Finance Banking 500 2026 ranking. The month also brought product launches, important steps forward in AI, as well as major financings in Romania and internationally.

The BT brand is worth over USD 1 billion

Banca Transilvania remains the strongest banking brand in Europe, with a brand value of over USD 1 billion, according to the Brand Finance Banking 500 2026 ranking. At the same time, for the fifth year running, BT remains among the world’s top 10 strongest banking brands.

Contributing to Romania’s performance

BT is among the main contributors to Romania’s performance in the Global Innovation Index 2025 (ranked #49 out of 139 countries).

BT is the first bank in Romania to join the Visa Agentic Ready program, contributing to the testing and development of autonomous commerce solutions based on AI agents.

#Launches

  • BT launches a new online shopping campaign. Discounts and other benefits to get ready for Easter, during April 1–5.

  • Banca Transilvania and Mastercard launched the physical, euro-denominated version of the premium McLaren F1 Team Mastercard Debit Gold card.

  • eSIM, right from BT Pay: choose the plan that suits you best, with no extra trips or complicated settings.

  • Victoriabank and Fiscal Partner have launched in the Republic of Moldova a complete digital solution for payment acceptance and sales fiscalization.

  • The Visa ePOSibil campaign, run by BT together with Visa, comes with a not-to-be-missed benefit for small and mid-sized businesses: BT POS with a 0% administration fee for 6 months.

Banca Transilvania was named Romania’s Best Private Bank by Euromoney magazine.

Leadership continuity

  • Ionuț Stroe is the new CEO of BT Pensii; he previously served as Deputy CEO. The position became vacant after Corina Cojocaru became CEO of BRD Pensii, a company acquired by the BT Group in November 2025.

  • Robert Anghel is the new CEO of Salt Bank, after previously serving as Chief Business Officer. Gabriela Nistor, who led Salt Bank from 2022, is concluding her executive mandate and will continue to contribute to the bank’s strategic direction and next growth stages as a member of the Board of Directors.
