• Although some businesses are currently operating at a reduced pace, our workload at Banca Transilvania is high. We are busy with the day-to-day management of a large loan portfolio, and we are also receiving requests for loan repayment deferrals.
• We can already feel the wave generated by the IMM Invest Romania program; at BT we are very focused on it and we are organizing so that the large volumes we anticipate are handled in a timely manner. Banks will need to screen applications to ensure the support reaches where it should. There will be an unprecedented mobilization at BT, and it is our No. 1 priority in supporting businesses right now.
• Some companies are not bankable on paper, yet they pay taxes, wages and suppliers. There is a range of financing solutions for them. Not being bankable is not destiny, not a situation you will never get out of. It is a point-in-time situation. The financial position they are in, the stage they find themselves at, depends on the quality of the individual decisions made by the entrepreneurs who launched these businesses. And entrepreneurs need to look at their business and decide what to continue and what to change, so that the business is supported by more than just shareholders’ and suppliers’ money.
• I expect banks to be an important part of the solution for this period, and I believe people will remember this.
