The eJobs story — one of BT Store’s partners, an online hub with solutions complementary to banking for entrepreneurs
The main challenge when we launched the platform almost 20 years ago: changing the mindset of candidates and employers
Many people started or changed their careers using eJobs. The leader of Romania’s online recruitment market has an interesting story, and more recently it became one of Banca Transilvania’s partners in a unique project in Romania, dedicated to entrepreneurs. Let’s find out more and how BT and eJobs are connected!
How eJobs … began its career
Almost 20 years ago, a group of Romanian entrepreneurs — Liviu Dumitrascu and Lucian Despoiu, joined by Horia Nistor and Daniel Tatar — launched the first online recruitment platform, eJobs. The idea went on to change for good how recruitment was done in Romania: online, simple, fast, out-of-the-box. Back then, the labor market was at a crossroads, unemployment was high, and recruitment methods were traditional.
Meanwhile, something had appeared on the horizon that would change everything, even if the transition to the new way of communicating and getting information was not easy: the internet. “The main challenge was changing the mindset, for both candidates and employers. Everyone had to move from the traditional ways of recruiting and hiring — recommendations from friends, classifieds in the newspaper, flyers, at best — to those that required some familiarity with the digital environment. Then we had to earn their trust because, at the end of the day, both sides are placing a very important process in our hands — hiring. It’s one of the most delicate transitions for a candidate, and for companies it’s an investment that always requires a lot of resources.” — said Bogdan Badea, CEO, eJobs Group.
The platform grew step by step, and since 2012 it has been part of the Ringier group. eJobs started with a small team, which gradually expanded and today numbers around 80 people across sales, development, support, marketing and content. There are nearly 4 million CVs on eJobs, more than 2 million unique users every month and over 1,500 CVs updated daily.
How eJobs has grown
Beyond pioneering online recruitment, eJobs has consistently come with firsts that benefit candidates and companies, as well as highly targeted projects, such as:
- Primul Job platform, aimed at young people at the beginning of their careers, who have not worked before or only for a short period. On primul-job.ro they find jobs selected exclusively for entry-level, as well as a survival guide for starting out in a career, with tips and recommendations on how to prepare a CV, how to present themselves at an interview, and how to find the job that would suit them best;
- Online features that are constantly being upgraded, such as: letting employers set the exact job location and search for roles by this criterion; interview scheduling; and highly accurate filtering of candidate information and of the jobs presented on the site;
- Direct phone line (021.9124) for skilled and unskilled workers, jobseekers and people in the process of retraining;
- Recently, eJobs launched the first salary comparator in Romania, available at www.paylab.ro.
eJobs: The labor market is at peak levels of dynamism and vibrancy
With unemployment at a 20-year low, we’re facing a crunch that employers are trying to overcome through increasingly complex and sophisticated employer branding and employee centricity programs. The fight for talent is enormous. As for employees, they are much better informed, far more aware of the opportunities they have and not shy about asking for what they know or believe is best for them. On the other hand, this shift in mindset and approach can only lead to the market’s evolution — an evolution that was needed,” adds Bogdan Badea.
eJobs in 3 numbers
If we were to describe eJobs in 3 numbers, the most important would be:
- 1 – eJobs’ position in Romania’s online recruitment market;
- 4 million – the number of candidates on the platform;
- 19 – experience, the number of years it has been in the industry.

Banca Transilvania, eJobs & BT Store: solutions that complement banking for entrepreneurs
Until recently, collaboration between BT and eJobs was exclusively about online recruitment. So the platform was — and still is — top of mind for the bank when it looks for new team members. To give you an idea, for the roughly 270 jobs posted by BT on eJobs in 2017, over 34,000 applications were received. From now on, the eJobs–BT partnership means something more, because eJobs, alongside several well-known brands, is part of a project launched recently — a first in how banks in Romania engage with entrepreneurs. It’s called BT Store, an online hub showcasing solutions that complement banking, designed for managing and running a business — invoicing, basic accounting, cash flow management, and employee recruitment. The initial version presents offers from the brands Banca Transilvania started out with in this project: Smart Bill, Blugento, eJobs, Reteaua Privata de Sanatate Regina Maria, Ebriza, ThinkOut, Calendis Business, REGnet, DocAv and iFactor. “BT Store will become the meeting place for those who dream up, launch and develop all kinds of solutions for entrepreneurs. It will be a big shop window for SMEs. People with ideas meet our Digital Transformation team so their solutions can have broad, immediate exposure — because this is where most SMEs are.” – said Tiberiu Moisa, Deputy CEO, SME Banking, Banca Transilvania

How eJobs sees the collaboration for BT Store: “It’s an opportunity we embraced with full openness because it’s a project the SME segment, I believe, has needed for a long time. We want to grow together in this direction and be real, very practical support for those entrepreneurs who need the solutions this platform brings.”, adds Bogdan Badea. The eJobs representative also has a message for entrepreneurs: “No matter how difficult this moment may seem from a recruitment perspective, there are a lot of people who want to work. Entrepreneurs just need to reach out to them with the right messages, on the right channels.” Entrepreneurs who visit BT Store have the following dedicated offer from eJobs:

This is the story of eJobs and the partnership for BT Store. Together because, as eJobs puts it, everyone deserves much more.
