Stefanel Udroiu - A Story About Discipline
Whatever the situation, Stefanel Udroiu gives his all for a win — all the more so because there are other people in the mix who depend on his actions and decisions. And by “win” we mean solving the issues entrepreneurs contact him about every day, since Stefanel is Head of SME Services.
He’s one of the #OameniidelaBanca for whom the word “difficult” is no deterrent whatsoever: “If you lead with how hard it’s going to be, success inevitably gets harder too. With any tough case I come across, I don’t think that I can’t do it; I think that I have to do it — and I have to find a solution!”.jpg)
That strong mindset and refusal to give up go back to his youth, to the intense football matches he played as a teenager — at 17 he made his Liga II debut. These days he’s no longer on the pitch in the same way, because he coaches a Liga IV senior team in the town where he was born.
Before moving into banking, Stefanel spent two years in a NATO‑standard military unit. Sport, military service, banking — three fields not everyone can adapt to easily. So how did he do it? The answer is pretty simple: “I saw each role as a challenge and wanted to prove to myself that I could.”
He’s been with us for 6 years now, time that has helped him get a clearer view of what working in this field means:
“Entrepreneurs choose Banca Transilvania because they become part of a real community! I enjoy talking with them and developing solutions together on different topics. It helps me too, because you learn an extraordinary amount from every client — professionally and sometimes even personally, in certain situations.”
“I can say a day at BT is pure adrenaline — and that makes me tick. I’m someone who always needs practice, situations that call for quick solutions. No two days are the same; there’s always something different to do. My role isn’t limited to phone calls, emails or face-to-face meetings with clients; it also requires coordination. Working with people is a challenge because it involves emotions: people can be in different moods, and I have to bring balance. It’s something I care about a lot, and I believe Banca Transilvania has matured me and helped me grow enormously as a professional. I work at the largest and strongest bank in Romania; it’s constant pressure for me, but what we do gives the business environment breathing room. I admit, it’s pressure — but at the same time it’s a source of pride!”

His 4-year-old son, Matei, looks up to him with pride too — he learned to kick a ball at the same time he learned to walk. And because he met his wife, Vio, at a football match as well, you could say one love brought him another. “Our son’s energy and my wife’s warmth cheer me up every time; family is extremely important to me!” Weekend evenings when he and Vio read while Matei paints are the best way to recharge — along with a great football match.
Stefanel, we’re glad you’re part of the BT team and thank you for being one of the #OameniidelaBanca we appreciate and are fond of! ❤
