The BT Pay app has been downloaded more than 50,000 times to date, which means around 1,000 downloads a day since its launch in late January this year. In addition, more than 100,000 in-store payments by phone and around 10,000 money transfers have been made via BT Pay.

BT Pay brings a new shopping experience for Banca Transilvania customers who hold a Visa or Mastercard card. BT is the only bank in Romania that enables contactless payments by phone.

Details:

• The app can be downloaded from Google Play Store or the App Store on Android and iOS smartphones, and it lets users add their BT cards in digital form.
• Payments can be made in Romania and abroad by holding the smartphone near contactless POS terminals. This feature is available on Android smartphones; iOS does not allow third‑party apps access to NFC.
• Transfers can be made between a customer’s own cards or to other BT cardholders.
• BT Pay provides access to BT card transaction details and balance, and for credit cards, the monthly amount due and the Star loyalty points accrued.

BT Pay is Banca Transilvania’s collection of payment accessories and includes the BT Pay app, a sticker, a watch and a contactless wristband. BT Pay promotion is currently running through a Visa & Banca Transilvania campaign with the headline “Still paying cash in 2018?”.

What’s novel about the video spot is the voice-over by a famous American actor, addressing Romanians and encouraging them to win back time for what matters most by paying contactless.
