For Pago users: points redeemable in lei with every payment and 5% cash back when using a Mastercard to pay bills

The Pago app has been downloaded 150,000 times in approximately one year. It is designed for managing and paying utility bills, topping up prepaid mobile phone cards and purchasing RCA policies. Recently, it launched a card payment rewards system and work is underway to expand the Insurance section.

Pago is the app that centralises all utility bills in a single account, where they can be paid with any card in a matter of seconds. It was launched by Timesafe, developed together with Banca Transilvania and supported by Mastercard. For BT, the investment in Pago — announced in October 2017 — marked entry into the fintech space, complementing core banking services.

Over the course of a year, more than 145,000 bills were paid to 75 utility providers enrolled in the app, and over 10,000 prepaid mobile phone cards were topped up. Payments via Pago can be made with a card issued by any bank. The app is free and carries no additional cost for users.

Two new features for users

• Pago rewards its users with loyalty points for every payment made in the app. Every 100 points are worth 1 leu, with a maximum of 2,000 points per transaction (the equivalent of 20 lei).
• In addition, all Pago users receive a 5% bonus on the value of the first bill paid using a Mastercard added in the app. The campaign is running until the end of the year.

The app’s 8 features:

• Once providers are connected, bills are automatically retrieved monthly in the app and appear consolidated on a single screen, in due-date order;
• Bills to 75 integrated providers can be paid by scanning the barcode with the mobile phone camera;
• Ability to purchase RCA motor third-party liability policies from any insurer in Romania.
• Ability to top up prepaid mobile phone cards electronically, from all telecom operators;
• Receive notifications both when utility bills are issued and to flag upcoming due dates;
• Anytime access to the history of payments made.
• Points redeemable for cash are awarded with every payment.

A new addition in Pago is the Insurance section, where RCA policies can be purchased. Features in this section include:

• Simplified quote retrieval: most of the required information is obtained by entering the registration number and the VIN;
• Displaying offers from all insurers that provide RCA for the vehicle whose details were entered in the app;
• Prices shown for RCA policies are the same as those obtained through any other contracting method: they are standard prices determined by the vehicle and owner data;
• Policies are sent by email immediately after payment via Pago and then - free of charge - by courier, within a few days, anywhere in Romania;
• In-app alerts when the RCA policy is approaching expiry, for all vehicles whose details have been entered in Pago, not just for policies purchased through the app.
• Coming soon, travel and home insurance will be added to the Insurance section.
