BT, represented by Mr Horia Ciorcila, Chairman of the Board, was part of Romania’s official delegation to the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year gala, held in June this year in Monaco. This year’s agenda also offered the chance to meet the following business leaders, who delivered speeches:

• Amal Clooney – international human rights attorney at Doughty Street Chambers
• Andre Hoffmann – Non-executive Vice-Chairman

• Mohed Altrad – CEO, ALtrad Group, and the 2015 World Entrepreneur Of The Year winner

The program, run by consulting firm EY, is dedicated to entrepreneurs who build and lead successful businesses. It takes the form of a competition—the only entrepreneurship contest organized globally—held annually in 145 cities across 60 countries, covering around 95% of the global economy. Romania has been part of the program since 2014. This year’s winner is Manny Stul, Chairman of the Board and Co-CEO of the Australian company Moose Enterprise.

The Entrepreneur Of The Year program was launched in 1986 in the United States of America. Each year, more than 5,000 entrepreneurs are nominated worldwide. Past World Entrepreneur Of The Year winners include entrepreneurs who have reshaped the industries in which they operate and set new standards, such as Guy Laliberté, founder and CEO of Cirque du Soleil—credited with creating a new business model that revolutionized the circus industry—and Wayne Huizenga, President of Huizenga Holdings Inc—who built six companies to the point of listing on the New York Stock Exchange and founded three companies that reached the Fortune 500 globally.
