Banca Transilvania and the European Investment Fund (EIF) — under the SME Initiative (POIIMM) — are making it easier for SMEs to access loans on favourable terms. As of September 20, BT is offering EU‑guaranteed financing for business growth or working capital. This is a new programme through which the bank supports entrepreneurship, investment and job creation.

Thanks to the guarantee agreement between BT and the EIF, Banca Transilvania will make available loans totalling ≈100 million euros. The guaranteed transactions are backed by the European Union under the SME Initiative, financed by the European Union through the ERDF and Horizon 2020, and by the European Investment Fund and the European Investment Bank.

SMEs can apply online, on the BT website, or at any of Banca Transilvania’s more than 500 branches. Under the EU definition, SMEs are companies that, in their most recent closed financial year, had turnover of up to 50 million euros or total assets of up to 43 million euros, and no more than 250 employees.

To date, through partnerships with the European Investment Bank and the European Investment Fund, Banca Transilvania has extended 5,500 loans to SMEs, totalling 255 million euros.
