Banca Transilvania received three awards at the gala organized by NoCash, held in Bucharest on May 9 this year:

• BT, Bank of the Year in the card market, with more than 3.8 million cards in its portfolio. This is the most important award in the industry, based on complex evaluation criteria that cover issuing, acceptance and the launch of new products in the field.
• BT Visa Electron, Shopping Card of the Year. The bank’s customers made more than 80 million transactions with this type of card in 2018, making Visa Electron the best-known and most widely used product on the market.
• BT Pay, a pioneer in the electronic payments industry. The app is Romania’s first bank wallet, launched by the bank in 2018 and now used by 220,000 customers. BT Pay is part of the namesake collection, BT being the only bank in Romania to offer a comprehensive range of payment accessories, including an app, a bracelet, a watch, a sticker, and enrollment in Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay.

Banca Transilvania was represented at the event by Gabriela Nistor, Deputy CEO – Retail Banking, and by Oana Ilas, Executive Director, Retail Product Management.

“These awards are an honor and show once again that at Banca Transilvania performance in cards is a long-distance race: BT has been named Bank of the Year in the card industry 9 times in the last 11 years. This recognition comes at an important moment; 2018 was demanding, but rich in achievements. We are pleased that, in parallel with integrating Bancpost into BT, we managed to grow the cards business organically and stick to the digital roadmap we set out on, marking several industry firsts in 2018: the BT Pay wallet, Fitbit Pay, Garmin Pay, and Romania’s first tokenized meal card. I would like to thank the entire BT team for these achievements—from the branch network to the departments that make these product launches possible: business, IT, marketing, digital and the other support functions,” said Oana Ilas.

The NoCash Gala is the electronic payments industry event with the most editions, launched in 2002. The excellence awards are given for the activity and results achieved in the previous year, thus providing official confirmation of these accomplishments.
