Banca Transilvania, a partner of the Romanian Royal House, is supporting the launch tour in eight cities nationwide for the book Conversations with King Michael by Stelian Tanase, edited by Elena Vijulie.

To produce the book, 30 audio and video tapes were transcribed, capturing the dialogue between King Michael and the writer Stelian Tanase during meetings held in 2005 in Bucharest, at Elisabeta Palace. King Michael talks about his life—from childhood and adolescence, through his years on the throne, his abdication, his years in exile, and his return home. The text is complemented by photographs and documents from the archives of the Royal House and from the National Archives of Romania.

The book was launched in Bucharest on December 4, 2018, in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Elena of Romania and His Excellency Alexander Phillips Nixon, one year after King Michael’s passing.

The book’s nationwide tour began in Cluj-Napoca on February 13 this year, at which time Stelian Tanase said: “King Michael was Romania’s chance, which we, as Romanians, missed. He was the man of a great opportunity that Romanians were unable to seize; they didn’t know how.” There will also be launches in Craiova, Timisoara, Iasi, Brasov, Constanta, Sinaia, Sibiu and Baia Mare.

Stelian Tanase is a Romanian writer, essayist, historian, political scientist, journalist, screenwriter, director, television producer and host, and political analyst, and the author of more than 20 books.
