Banca Transilvania’s shareholders elected the Board of Directors for the next four years at the General Meeting of Shareholders held on 25 April this year, in Cluj-Napoca.

Horia Ciorcila, BT’s founder and Chairman of the Board since 2002, has received his fifth consecutive term in this role. The six Board members were also reappointed by the shareholders.

The composition of the bank’s Board of Directors is as follows: Horia Ciorcila – Chairman; members Ivo Gueorguiev (United Kingdom), Thomas Grasse (Germany), Doru Lionachescu, Costel Ceocea, Vasile Puscas and Mirela Bordea.

Between 2014–2018, under the Board’s guidance, the bank delivered a number of notable results, including:

• BT’s market share increased by 4%, and in 2016 Banca Transilvania rose to no. 2 among banks in Romania.
• BT became one of the top 100 banks in Europe.
• The bank recorded its highest returns on equity.
• Banca Transilvania completed two of the largest acquisitions in the country: Volksbank Romania and Bancpost.
• BT was ranked the most valuable banking brand in Romania (Brand Finance Romania 2017) and the only Romanian brand included in the global ranking of the most valuable banking brands, Brand Finance Banking 500 (2018).
