As of today, September 21, Romania’s capital market officially moves up to emerging market status from frontier market, following a decision by the index provider FTSE Russell. The milestone was marked by an event hosted at the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Also as of today, Banca Transilvania and Nuclearelectrica shares join the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (GEIS).

The reclassification of Romania’s capital market to Secondary Emerging status comes one year after FTSE Russell’s official announcement in September 2019.
