EMBA University of Hull Cluj marks its third graduating class
The third cohort of the University of Hull EMBA will graduate today from the wholly British business school in Cluj-Napoca, an occasion marked by a ceremony in Hull, in the United Kingdom. The event can be watched live on the University of Hull website, starting at 6:30 p.m. The ceremony will be followed by a similar event in Romania, in November this year, in Cluj-Napoca.
Over 2 years, the graduates completed 12 modules, one of which took place in the United Kingdom, at the University of Hull. The modules were taught by international faculty from the same university. The degree awarded is international, conferred by the University of Hull. The graduating class comprises 18 people who hold senior and middle management roles in fields such as financial services and banking, engineering, technology, IT, construction, education, medicine, consulting and others.
“We are very proud of the third cohort of the EMBA programme in Cluj-Napoca. Over the course of the school, students had the opportunity to travel to Bahrain, the United Kingdom and Singapore - where the EMBA also runs classes - and they brought an international perspective to the group. We are very proud of their efforts and achievements in the context of a world-renowned programme of excellence. They have truly been a source of inspiration for everyone who came into contact with them.”
Alin Baiescu, one of the graduates in this cohort, said: “During the EMBA modules we had access to a wide range of tools: economic theories, management strategies, the valuable knowledge of our professors and the professional experience of our colleagues. We all had the chance to select whatever ingredient would improve our business or management activities. Now it is time to apply them. We have to decide which economic theory, financial instrument or management strategy to apply, in what proportion, when and in what context. The manager has to do all this with (almost) no external support, because they are fully responsible for all actions and, moreover, for the final outcome. And expectations are anything but low.”
The EMBA programme is internationally accredited by The Association of MBAs and by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Starting this year, the programme has two specialisations, General EMBA and Tech EMBA, and depending on the track the courses cover: general management, the international business environment, consulting, project management and economics; and, respectively, infrastructure management, cyber security, software systems management and innovation.
In Cluj-Napoca, the business school was launched in 2015 through a partnership between the University of Hull, Babeș-Bolyai University, Banca Transilvania and Electrogrup. Transilvania Executive Education, the organisation that runs the programme in Romania, is supported by the Romanian-British Chamber of Commerce (BRCC), the Netherlands-Romanian Chamber of Commerce (NRCC), the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and Emerson.
