Gabriela Nistor, Deputy CEO of Banca Transilvania, responsible for retail banking and the branch network, will become the new CEO of Idea::Bank. An experienced leader, Gabriela Nistor has been with Banca Transilvania since 1995. Over the past 17 years, she has overseen retail, private banking and the network, and since 2013 she has served as the bank’s Deputy CEO. She has represented the bank on several boards of BT Group companies. She is Chair of the Executive Committee of the Visa Romanian Member Forum (since 2008) and Vice President of the Romanian Association of Banks (since 2022). Gabriela Nistor holds an EMBA from the University of Sheffield and was a finalist in the 2021 Study UK Alumni Awards, Europe, in the Professional Achievement category.

Banca Transilvania’s plan is to build a 100% digital bank around Idea::Bank, targeting customer segments that prefer to bank remotely. Whereas previous bank acquisitions, by virtue of their size, helped strengthen BT, Idea::Bank is part of Banca Transilvania’s strategy to accelerate its digital transformation.

She will take up her new role once approvals have been obtained from the supervisory authorities.

The Idea::Bank Executive Committee also includes Sinan Kircali – Executive Vice President, Operations, Alin Fodoroiu – Executive Vice President, Business, and Sorin Dumitrescu – Executive Vice President, Risk. Mioara Popescu, Executive Chair of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Idea::Bank Board of Directors, will continue as Chair of the Idea::Bank Board.

The agreement to acquire Idea::Bank was signed in October 2021. Since then, the two banks have operated separately, and the integration has been carried out with the help of employees from both banks.
