The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca is launching the master’s programme Data Science for Industry and Society, which prepares students for the jobs of the future and gives them the opportunity to obtain highly sought-after technical certifications on the labour market. Classes start in October, at the beginning of the 2022-2023 academic year. Top-performing students will be able to take part in the paid internship programme at Banca Transilvania.

In developing the programme, Babeș-Bolyai University is supported by two of its partners: SAS — the global leader in Advanced Analytics solutions — and Banca Transilvania — Romania’s largest bank. Together they aim to train specialists in data engineering and to contribute to the development of Romania’s IT ecosystem by building competencies in advanced data analytics and data science in line with the European Qualifications Framework.

Programme details:

• It is aimed at both recent university graduates and professionals who want to develop skills in collecting, processing and interpreting data within organisations.
  
  
• The programme’s innovative curriculum builds information-analysis skills using Artificial Intelligence tools, through real-data projects coordinated by experts from academia and industry.
  
  
• The programme includes two SAS specialisations, Advanced Analytics and Data Science, and offers the possibility of obtaining industry‑recognised certifications such as Visual Business Analytics, Statistical Business Analyst, SAS Programming Specialist, Machine Learning Specialist, or Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision.
  
  
• The programme is taught in English, runs over two years, and offers numerous opportunities for internships at Banca Transilvania as well as with other players in the field.

UBB brings to this endeavour an innovative study programme that leverages the experience of Romania’s largest doctoral school in Artificial Intelligence and a top-tier information technology ecosystem, while SAS opens up access to an innovative academic programme via SAS Academic Programs.
