Banca Transilvania is launching, for the first time on the Romanian market, an alternative way to pay — the BT contactless wristband — which can replace your card when paying for purchases. It links to your RON current account held with BT and lets you pay contactless, for any amount, in Romania and abroad. There is no issuance fee and no fee for point-of-sale purchases.

Contactless payments have become very popular in Romania as more POS terminals accept them. At 80% of Banca Transilvania’s 27,000 merchant POS terminals, you can pay this way — with a contactless card and, more recently, with contactless wristbands.

Details:

• The wristbands work like a contactless bank card, so for payments up to RON 100, PIN entry is not required;
• They can be issued to Banca Transilvania customers who hold a Visa debit card in RON, or together with such a card, as applicable;
• Customers can request a wristband at any of the bank’s branches and agencies;
• The monthly fee is just RON 3 per wristband;
• Initially, the stock is 3,000 contactless wristbands.

The UNTOLD festival, taking place in Cluj-Napoca on August 4–7 this year, where BT is the official bank, is one of the first occasions when the contactless wristbands can be used. With them — and also with cash or a bank card — festival wristbands and festival cards can be topped up at UNTOLD at the Credit Point locations.
