500,000 People Save Using the Round Up Feature in the BT Pay App

500,000 people using BT Pay are saving with the Round Up option. Adoption has accelerated year over year: the number of people using Round Up has increased by about 7 times over the past three years.

Payments made in Romania or abroad, at POS terminals or online, with BT debit cards in lei, whether digital or physical, generate Round Up savings that earn 3% interest. You can view the amount saved in BT Pay and use it at any time by transferring it to your current account at Banca Transilvania, also through the app.

  • 7 out of 10 people with savings accounts at Banca Transilvania also use this method, Round Up.

  • Over 12,000 people activate Round Up every month. For many of the bank’s customers, this feature is the first step toward consistent saving and building financial habits that contribute to financial education and better management of personal finances.

  • 31% of customers who have activated Round Up are between 18 and 26, and 34% between 27 and 42.

  • On average, a customer saves about 200 lei/month in Round Up.

Saving with Round Up

  • BT Pay users need to activate the option in Cards → Round Up.

  • Customers can choose to round each purchase up to the next 1 leu, 5 lei or 10 lei, with the difference transferred to the Round Up savings account. For example, if the rounding threshold is set to 10 lei, for a payment of 3.5 lei, the round-up is 6.5 lei.

  • With Round Up Accelerator, the amounts saved are multiplied two, three or five times.
