BT supports What’s next?, a career counseling and guidance program for school students

Banca Transilvania is a partner in the What's next? project, designed to advise and guide students on their careers, run by Save the Children and the Bucharest Municipal Center for Educational Resources and Assistance in the 2024-2025 school year, in Bucharest.

The results achieved in 2024 are encouraging, both in terms of scale and student participation in such a programme, which helps them explore their potential, aptitudes, strengths and interests. What's next? set out to guide children and teenagers, through a team of specialists, towards decisions that are as well suited as possible to their personal and professional paths.

Project impact to date:

  • Providing access for 900 students to one-to-one guidance;
  • Training more than 70 specialists in vocational guidance and career counselling;
  • Holding 360 counselling sessions.

Fear of failure and uncertainty about the future, the difficulties students experience in choosing a career
Save the Children and the Bucharest Municipal Center for Educational Resources and Assistance carried out a study among students in the schools selected to be part of the pilot project, and based on its results they prepared information materials for trainers, students and parents, as part of this programme.

What the study shows:

  • 45% of students are optimistic, while 46% are uncertain/moderately optimistic about their future careers.
  •  38% of students have heard of career guidance and counselling, but have not taken part in specific activities.
  • 66% of students are open to allocating at least two hours per month for career guidance and counselling activities.
  • For support with career choices, students place the most trust in parents (75%), apps (46%) and the teachers of their favourite subjects (41%).
  • Fear of failure (68%) and uncertainty about the future (54%) are the difficulties students experience when it comes to choosing a career.

As part of the community, Banca Transilvania is committed to supporting education, the environment, culture and social programmes.
