Banca Transilvania has integrated new RoPay features into the BT Pay app, expanding the range of simple, modern transfer options available directly in the app, with no need to use bank details such as an IBAN.
Rolling out these new features follows last year, when Banca Transilvania joined the national RoPay payments system, enabling retail customers in face-to-face settings to make transactions by scanning a QR code or to send money using only a phone number, via RoPay Alias. These options are now complemented by the following features:
- Scanning QR codes at POS or checkout — for payments in supermarkets or at various merchants;
- Scanning displayed QR codes — to pay on the bus, at small merchants, in parking facilities, etc.;
- Sending a payment request to a phone number and paying upon receipt;
- E-commerce payments on your phone using the phone number or via a deep link.
The new features are available from the “Accounts” menu in the BT Pay app, under “More”, and can be used exclusively within the bank’s app, not by using the phone’s camera.
The RoPay community
The national RoPay payment system is developed by TRANSFOND, in partnership with the Romanian Association of Banks. To implement these features, Banca Transilvania worked with Montran, a company with which it has had a partnership for over 20 years.
Through the developments delivered together with its partners and the other banks in the RoPay community, Banca Transilvania is helping advance the national instant payments system, which simplifies transfers between participating banks and offers customers a modern, fast experience.
