To help keep your money safe, we’re sharing a few recommendations for our customers — stay alert online and be extra vigilant with emails that claim to be from Banca Transilvania.

We are reiterating this information — and will do so whenever necessary — in light of the Bitdefender warning (dated 21 December this year) — issued by a global leader in cybersecurity — about an ongoing malicious campaign that also targets Banca Transilvania.

Not every email that looks like it’s from BT is actually from BT

Malicious actors with no connection to our bank can gain access to money and personal data if recipients, without verifying the information and the sender, open attachments or click links in messages that appear to be from the bank.

Yes, our bank communicates frequently with customers by email — either one-to-one to share specific information, or via newsletters to announce updates. However, we have not asked, and will not ask, for personal information or for you to carry out banking actions by clicking a link.

Recommendations for our customers:

• Do not click links and do not open/download attachments from unsolicited emails or from unknown senders, especially those that appear to be sent by the bank.
• Pay close attention to the content of messages, especially those that urge you to take an action (downloading, logging in, entering certain details, making a payment).
• To log in to your bank account (such as BT24 or NEO), use only the dedicated pages — on any device.
• Use a robust security solution that detects cyberthreats and blocks their installation. Mobile apps should be downloaded from official sources (app stores).
