● The merger date for the two banks is December 31, 2018 ●

At today’s Extraordinary General Meeting, October 16 this year, Banca Transilvania’s shareholders approved the BT–Bancpost merger, which will take place on December 31 this year.

“I would like to thank our shareholders for their confidence in approving the merger. Building on the Banca Transilvania–Bancpost synergies and seeing the results so far, we are confident we will successfully deliver on the ambitious integration plan in December, when the two banks will merge.” - said Horia Ciorcila, Chairman of BT’s Board of Directors.

In the period ahead, BT will provide Bancpost customers with information on the corresponding products and services at Banca Transilvania, as well as BT’s Welcome Offer.

Banca Transilvania acquired Bancpost from Eurobank Group in April 2018 and currently holds over 99% of Bancpost’s share capital. Following the acquisition, work began to integrate Bancpost into the Banca Transilvania Financial Group and to obtain approvals from the authorities. Accordingly, in September this year Banca Transilvania received authorization for the merger from the National Bank of Romania.

Until the end of the year, when the integration is completed, the two banks will continue to operate separately. The last business day at Bancpost will be December 28 this year, and the first business day at Banca Transilvania next year will be January 3, 2019.
