Banca Transilvania received the Bank of the Year award for its 2021 performance and results, at the Piata Financiara Awards Gala, held on December 7.

BT was represented by Gabriela Nistor, Deputy CEO, Retail Banking, who said: “I believe this award is about more than numbers and results; it’s about the entire journey we’ve been on. This extraordinary journey, like a marathon over many years, where the terrain and the competitors change at every kilometer and at times other competitors are warming up on the sidelines, and we have managed to cover the entire course, delivering impressive results. Especially in the last two years—which have been very challenging—extraordinary things have happened, and that’s because our runners have always run shoulder to shoulder, and by that I mean all our colleagues, and without the BT team we wouldn’t have achieved such strong results, launched so many products or moved so fast. Customers have seen this and appreciated it, and I feel we’re receiving this award from our customers as well, because so many people in this country trust us and feel that we put a lot of heart into banking.”

This year Banca Transilvania strengthened its leadership in the banking market and continued to support the economic recovery, with lending dynamics above the market average. The BT Group’s consolidated net profit at the end of September 2021 was 1,669 million lei, of which 1,474 million lei was generated by the bank and approximately 195 million lei by subsidiaries and equity investments. BT Financial Group’s assets reached 118 billion lei at the end of the third quarter of this year, up 9.7% compared with the beginning of the year.

In the first nine months of 2021 BT granted more than 166,000 loans to individuals and financed more than 13,700 companies. The number of BT customers has increased by more than 133,000 since the start of the year, up 4% among individuals and 3% among corporate clients.
